To: The Natural Resources and
Cultural Committee; Donna Frye, Chair
Our requests are simple and
straightforward. Only a very limited number of people from the
professional golf or hotel and convention business have supported
anything like the Mayor’s Plan. In every forum the citizens have been
opposed to the changes. Here is a sincere and respectful alternative
that has wide spread support. We ask that you consider the following
motion:
Motion:
That the
NR&C committee approves the plan submitted by Mayor Sanders
subject to the following modifications:
1. Maintain
the existing resident fee structure subject to annual increases not to
exceed 4%.
2.
Maintain the senior discount rate and 10-play card subject to the same
rate increase.
3.
Charge weekday rates for Friday’s.
4.
Maintain the current County resident rate subject to the same rate of
increase.
5.
Insure that the 70/30 resident to non-resident ratio be maintained by
spreading play for all parties over the course of the day and by
publishing daily tee times and a monthly audit of the ratio.
6.
Maintain the current Men’s and Women’s Club play schedule and extend a
long-term agreement to insure continuity of play.
7.
Raise non-resident rates to the applicable market level.
8.
Do not implement a 90 day advanced reservation system. Give residents
an additional day to make next week reservations and work out a system
for non-residents.
9.
Insure that the Enterprise Fund is the vehicle to collect and distribute
money’s for operational use on the three courses and for agreed upon
Capital Improvements.
Passing this motion would get things moving and
greatly defuse the emotions of the citizenry toward the Golf Course
Operations, the City Council and the Mayor. Thank you,
This motion was made on behalf of the 1280 members
of the SDMGA.
